motherhood series
The Motherhood series explores family, society, and aspects of the child-mother-parent relationship; how they are connected and separate. Issues of idealism, patterns, innocence, nurturance, neglect and responsibility are explored. These pieces encourage thoughts on how and what it is to be a parent. Children are our future generation and their nurturance, growth, morals and values begin in the home and their surrounding community. While contemplating parental responsibility, what begins as a primal and natural continuance of lineage morphs into a deliberate molding of a conscientious citizen of the world that is vital for the growth and evolution of all of humanity.
I was inspired to create this series to document my thoughts and experience as a parent. During the process I have pulled from my childhood experience, my current role as a parent, and parenting I see in the world today. Providing a platform for viewers to see different aspects and ways of being, and bring awareness and appreciation for the role they may fall into as mother, father, grandparent, caregiver, guardian, teacher, citizen, etc.
