“The American Dream" explores what constitutes a dream, and to what length one will go to reach fulfillment. Throughout history, America goes through periods where our freedoms, liberties, and what this country was founded on feel threatened or compromised. The flag, made of disassembled zippers, is shown flying at half mast and a lock is on the white picket fence, a long time symbol for what is considered to be ideal. The key lies in a treasure chest. Suggesting the American Dream, or any individual dream, might be found in what is treasured most by a person or a country. Within the white picket fence is a structure suggesting a house or sacred place. The idea that what is sacred for most can be found in the basis of what constitutes family, community, faith, transparency and truth.
